Boniface and Terra Leverkusen teammates are evenly matched: amazing performances from Madrid, Juve and Inter
Victor Boniface, Nathan Tella and their Bayer Leverkusen teammates matched the great performances of Real Madrid, Juventus and Inter Milan after Wednesday night's 4-0 win over Fortuna Düsseldorf in the DFB Cup semi-finals did.
Boniface and Tella came on as substitutes in the 65th minute and Leverkusen ended their 40-game unbeaten run this season.
It was Boniface's first appearance since his injury ahead of the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.
According to Squawka, with the win against Düsseldorf, Leverkusen join Madrid, Juventus and Inter as the top five European teams to remain unbeaten in 40 games or more in all competitions in the 21st century.
Juventus were unbeaten in 43 games in 2011-12, while Inter (2004-05) and Madrid (2016-17) were unbeaten in 40 games each. Xabi Alonso's side have now won five in a row following their impressive cup win against Düsseldorf.
They will be hoping to continue their unbeaten run when they take on Union Berlin in Saturday's Bundesliga match.
They currently have 73 points, 13 points ahead of Bayern Munich in the standings.
