Junior Pope: Late Nollywood makeup artist Abigail Frederick is reburied in her hometown

The body of Mrs. Abigail Frederick, a talented Nollywood make-up artist who sadly passed away in a boating accident that also claimed the life of Nollywood star actor, Junior Pope, has been reburied in Akwa Ibom State.

A
memorial service organized by the Akwa Ibom State Government was held on Monday, April 15th.

The
horrifying incident occurred last Wednesday at Anum River in Anambra State when the Thespis artistes were returning from a film shoot with others.

Gistlover said Abigail was initially buried on the riverbank because she could not afford the villagers' ceremonial demands or the cost of transporting her body for burial.

However,
Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno took pity on her family and ordered her body to be exhumed from the river and given a proper burial. The government claimed ignorance of the situation and ordered her body removed and transported to her hometown for a proper burial.

Governor
Eno’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Ekerete Udoh, who spoke on behalf of his boss at the weekend, said: Those who heard our clarion call, "Rise and shine!" She was a 24-year-old theater graduate who discovered her passion as a make-up artist.

“We
are deeply saddened by her tragic death and on behalf of the government and the people of Akwa Ibom State, we sympathize with her family, the Nollywood community, and her friends and colleagues for this sad loss.

“We
have also followed and read the coverage surrounding her funeral, particularly on social media platforms, and would like to categorically state that the government was not aware of the circumstances that led to her burial.” "Governor Umo Eno has therefore ordered that her body be returned to her family for a proper and dignified burial." As the famous Liverpool Football Club theme song goes, the grieving family said: Never walk alone.
