Troost Ekong reveals positive recovery situation
William Troost-Ekong has revealed he could return to action before the end of this season.
However, the Nigeria international said he has no intention of rushing the recovery process and is willing to wait until the start of next season to ensure a smooth return to action.
The 30-year-old suffered the injury during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Mr Troost-Ekko went under the knife in Finland last month.
"I should be feeling good again in May, but I think the season is probably over. I don't know what the rehab will be, but at 30 years old and having to deal with these things, I don't want to rush it. ``Injure wisely,'' Troost-Ekong told CNN World Sports. "I want to play 100% for next season. I'm 100% right. If I can play at the end of this season that's great, but if not I'm ready for next season."
The PAOK Salonica player also explained how he was able to play at AFCON despite the injury.
"I had a tear in my biceps femoris, the outside part of my hamstring. It happened during the tournament, and I think the first one was in the second group stage game against Ivory Coast where I had a little tear. "I managed to play well. "I was able to continue, but after the finals I had another MRI scan and found out that it was indeed torn," he said. "It hurt so much to play that I couldn't train properly after the second group match." He only tried ice to reduce the swelling.
"I'll probably train for 30 minutes the day before each match and keep myself energized during the match with a combination of painkillers and adrenaline."The day after each match, I had trouble walking. That definitely happened.
"But luckily I'm okay now," he added. Please allow me to operate on Lasse Lampainen. He is one of the best players in the world and has operated on several Watford players in the past. ”
