Governor Uzodinma refutes claims that Imo State has "too little security" for Davido and Chioma 's traditional wedding

The Imo government categorically denied the notion that prevalent security could thwart social events like Chibido's wedding, saying the region is ready to hold such events without fear.

In an angry statement, APC stalwart Joe Igbokwe pointed the finger at IPOB, the Eastern Security Network and other militant groups, saying their operations forced Afrobeat superstar Davido and Chioma to leave Lagos from their residence in Imo State to replace her traditional wedding.

Igbokwe wrote: "Chibido's wedding was beautiful and glamorous but I blame the plain and horrifying fact that it took place in the South East. Thank you IPOB, ESN and KGM (known militant groups) for the robbery. Ike000000. "Anyone with Igbo blood in their veins should reflect on what happened in Lagos today.

The well-known and respected Adeleke family from Osun State was unable to travel to the South-East to perform the traditional wedding of their son, Davido, and his bride, Chioma.

On Thursday, June 27, Mr Onwuosoanya sacked Mr Jones on behalf of Governor Hope." Mr Uzodinma vehemently denied the allegation as baseless and misleading.

Mr Jones stressed Governor Uzodinma's unwavering commitment to making Imo State a safe haven for all and refuted insinuations that security concerns influenced the choice of venue for Davido and Chioma's wedding.

The statement read: “It is not correct to state that the cultural wedding was held in Lagos due to the insecurity in Imo State and the South-East of the island. “Imo State, especially the axis area where this wedding would have taken place had Davido chosen Nkwere or Owerri, is one of the safest places in the South-East. "Davido's decision to have his wedding outside Imo State must not be politicized or misrepresented. "The idea of having a cultural wedding in a city outside the bride's home state is a cultural trend that has been developing for over a decade."
