OYO State to employ 10,500 teachers and non-teaching staff in secondary schools
The Oyo State government has approved the recruitment of 7,500 teachers and 3,000 non-teaching personnel into the state education service as part of efforts to improve the post-secondary education sector.
Chairman, Oyo State Primary Education Service Commission (TESCOM), Akinade Alam, disclosed this in a statement in Ibadan on Friday.
He said the recruitment of new teachers would be on the basis of merit and advised all qualified candidates, including those with physical disabilities, to accept the offer.
According to him, merit-based employment is the key to quality education, hence the guidelines set out in the application portal should be strictly adhered to.

"The Oyo State government's huge investment in the education sector has yielded positive results with students performing well in all subjects. Therefore, in addition to local teachers, the government plans to employ more teachers," he said.
Alam said the recruitment would be monitored by an inter-ministerial committee to ensure a smooth process.
TESCOM Permanent Secretary, Haroon Lawal, was quoted as saying the recruitment was aimed at strengthening the teaching and non-teaching sectors of secondary education in the state.
