Daniel Regha criticizes Burna Boy for saying he writes all his songs
Renowned Twitter critic and star Daniel Rega recently highlighted comments made by Grammy Award-winning rapper Burna Boy on the use of songwriters.
Burna Boy has openly stated that he does not use songwriters in composing his music and that all people credited on his tracks are producers or guest artists, not writers.
Burna Boy explained that he stands out in this regard. He proudly calls himself Odogwu and said he takes full responsibility for the lyrics of his songs and does not seek outside help.
“Any name you see credited on my songs are only producers of the songs or featured artists not writers. But for some reason the western world considers producers as writers of the instrumentals and they just throw their names on there as writers. Nobody fit write for Odogwu” Burna Boy said
In response, Daniel Rega linked to a 2020 tweet in which Burna Boy acknowledged having enlisted Peruzzi's help in writing the song.
Daniel refuted Burna Boy's recent claim that he never received songwriting credit, pointing out that songwriting credit is given to those who contributed or contributed to the songwriting process.
He highlighted the difference between Burna Boy's previous recognition of his collaboration with Peruzzi as a songwriter and his current position in songwriting recognition.
He reminded Burna Boy that claiming only songwriting credit violates the industry principle of only giving credit when it should be credited.
Quoting Burna boy’s post on X , Daniel wrote:
“Burna, this was u in 2020 giving credit to Peruzzi as a songwriter, but suddenly nobody writes for u? For the record, no one gets songwriting credit unless they co-wrote or contributed to writing the song, so you’re statement isn’t valid”.
