New discoveries gain momentum in legal battle over Mohbad's DNA

A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ikorodu area of Lagos has called off the drama surrounding the DNA application to establish the paternity of the late singer, Irelioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad's son Liam.

The
decision comes after settlement talks between the Aloba family and the defendant, Mohbad's wife, Wunmi, collapsed.

In
a statement obtained by Punch Online, Monisola Odumosu, representing the family's legal team, revealed that the court encouraged both parties to explore other options to resolve the dispute before July 9, 2024. However, no compromise was found during those closed-door meetings.

Odumosu
pointed to "external factors" that derailed the negotiation process, further fuelling an already heated debate on the issue.

The statement partly read;

“Emmanuel Oroko of Hillceetee Partners, representing Joseph Aloba, informed the court that despite earnest efforts, the settlement talks broke down due to external factors. M.K.O Orire Esq., representing the respondent, confirmed the breakdown in negotiations during the resumed hearing

“In response to petitions from both legal teams, the presiding Magistrate, His Honour Mrs A.B Olagbegi-Adelabu adjourned the suit to allow for the hearing of all pending applications related to the DNA test. The court urged the parties to continue exploring settlement options before the next hearing date,” it added.

Prior to the latest development, the Aloba family’s legal eagles had already made waves by filing for a DNA test amidst swirling social media speculation about the paternity of the child born by the late singer’s wife.

Undeterred by the uproar, the family staunchly pressed for the test, citing the shadowy circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s untimely demise as their rallying cry.

In a strongly worded statement, the family’s legal representative, Monisola Odumosu, clarified that no official spokesperson had been appointed, vehemently disavowing any unauthorized comments made without clearance from their legal team.

Mohbad’s shocking death at the tender age of 27 on September 12, 2023, continues to fuel intense controversy across social media platforms, with conjectures and debates swirling about the circumstances surrounding his tragic end.
