Nigerian social activist Martin Otse, also known as Very Dark Man, has broken his silence after being nominated in an award category at the recent Trend Up Awards held on July 7th.

Verydarkman
(VDM) is nominated and named as a front-runner in the prestigious Force of Social Good category alongside such heavyweights as Aproko Doctor, Kokun Foundation, Tunde Onakoya, and others.

Despite
big ambitions and enthusiastic support from his fans, VDM was unable to bag the award. The winner was Tunde Onakoya, known for pioneering the slum chess game and recently achieving the Guinness World Record of playing chess for 58 hours straight.

The
results were nothing short of explosive. Outraged VDM supporters cried injustice and claimed he was robbed of a well-deserved victory.

His
critics quickly seized the opportunity after his defeat to mercilessly mock him.

In
response, Very Darkman released a defiant video exuding nonchalance about the whole debacle.

He
made it clear that his tireless fight against injustice on social media is purely driven by passion and a desire for change, not a desire for praise from the awards ceremony organizers.

Very
Darkman openly admitted that he was too busy with his activities to attend the ceremony and even said that he had no idea he was nominated at all. He recounted the last time he received an invitation from Silverbird to attend an awards ceremony, and, in a move to underscore his principles, he claimed he rejected them outright when they refused to comply with his payment demands.
