In sports, It was a record-breaking semifinal that Wimbledon will never forget.
In the longest women's semifinal in the tournament's history, seventh-seeded Italian Jasmine Paolini beat unseeded Donna Vekic 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (10-8) in a glorious sports drama that lasted 2 hours and 51 minutes.
Until July, Paolini had never won a match here. She is currently on a six-match winning streak, but none have been as nerve-wracking as this one.
After losing a tough first set, Paolini was in trouble. Trailing 4-3 and breaking in the deciding set, Vekic was two games away from victory despite being hampered by an injured right arm.
Paolini fought back, saving two match points and bringing a rollercoaster battle to a fittingly dramatic end.
Paolini trailed 3-1, 6-5, 8-7 in a thrilling 10-point tiebreak, but to the delight of a frenzied Centre Court, the hugely popular Italian never gave up and clinched a remarkable victory.
